Our Story

Lefkara lace, lefkaritika, is one of Cyprus's most treasured crafts and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. For centuries, the women of Lefkara have embroidered intricate geometric patterns into linen, creating pieces that have travelled far beyond the island and into homes, collections and hearts around the world. I'm Andreani, founder of Folkmona, a Cypriot luxury fashion brand that weaves traditional heritage crafts into contemporary clothing. Teaching lefkaritika is at the heart of what I do, keeping this craft alive, accessible, and celebrated. In this workshop, held right here in Cyprus, you'll learn the foundations of Lefkara lace from scratch. No experience needed, just curiosity and a love for something made by hand.

It was one of my most inspired decisions to have this workshop! Andreani, the tutor from 'Folkmona' is fluent in English, patient and talks with love about traditions, a young lady who makes you think that the future is not yet totally lost to AI, we can still keep our hands occupied with skills and feed our soul and mind with a bit of silence in these fast forward times. On the other hand, Maria, our location host from 'JoyOfCulture' creates a perfect environment to feel welcomed and happy while having this experience. If you are into crafts, you have a beginner knowledge on sewing and want to get a glimpse into "lefkaritika lace', take your friends, join and have a great time, you will not regret it. Thank you Andreani and Maria for this great morning!
